What is namako glaze?
The term “sea cucumber glaze,” also known as namako glaze, refers to a traditional Japanese ceramic glaze that resembles the texture and colour of a sea cucumber. The glaze often has a rich, deep, and somewhat mottled appearance, usually in shades of blue or green. The unique finish is achieved through a specific glazing process that creates a surface reminiscent of the ocean depths, with a lustrous, often semi-transparent quality.
